They contain no solvents or volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and fulfill all requirements for direct food contact under US CFR 21 FDA, all EU directives and all national regulations applicable in the Federal Republic of Germany and Switzerland.

Barrier coatings play a particularly important role in food packaging: They prevent unwanted diffusion both through the packaging into a food product (e.g. mineral oil residues from recycled cardboard boxes, such as for breakfast cereal packaging) and out of it through the packaging (e.g. french fry trays or paper drinking cups). With the help of our barrier coating dispersions, packaging products can fulfill this task and the associated requirements.
Barrier coatings are often an absolute “must” in the packaging industry, being the only means for protecting packaging materials (usually paper, board or composites) against the ingress of substances like grease, water vapor, oxygen or even mineral oil. The aim is to prevent these substances from diffusing into ‑ or out of ‑ the product.
