1978
With the vision of launching a new era in the world of dispersions, Christiane and Peter Trüb founded Trüb Emulsions Chemie AG in October 1978, with its headquarters in Ramsen, Switzerland. What was then still considered unimportant and unnecessary has today emerged as a future technology – water-based emulsions and dispersions.

“Progress is the realisation of Utopias” (Oscar Wilde)
Driven by thoughts of progress, Trüb Emulsions Chemie AG expanded the spectrum of its operations. A polymerisation plant was built with an annual capacity of 2,000 tonnes. With this, the age of development and the manufacture of acrylic dispersions began at Trüb Emulsions Chemie AG

1992
The fortunately constantly growing demand for polyethylene dispersions and wet laminating adhesives moved Trüb Emulsions Chemie AG to make further investments. A new plant was built with an 8-tonne autoclave for temperatures up to 145° C and up to 6 bar pressure, and a mixing vessel with a capacity of 11 tonnes.

In order to further increase flexibility and efficiency, Trüb Emulsions Chemie AG decided on an extension of the paraffin emulsions plant. With the new plant, 14 tonnes of emulsion could be manufactured per hour. As a result of the expansion, one member of staff is now able to produce 30,000 tonnes of emulsion annually.

Trüb Emulsions Chemie AG mostly develops and builds its production plants itself. With the acquisition of a warehouse in 2000, not only was storage space for another 1,000 tonnes of raw materials created, but the workshop area was also enlarged. Trüb Emulsions Chemie AG is thus able to maintain its own plants independently and to install new production units.

2003
The installation of an automatic processing plant for the polymerisation of acrylic dispersions had been a goal of Trüb Emulsions Chemie AG for a long time. In 2003 these plans were transformed into reality. A polymerisation plant was constructed which brought with it a completely new flexibility. With batch sizes of up to 30 tonnes, a member of the production staff can manufacture 6,000 tonnes of acrylic dispersions annually. In addition, another 15-tonne autoclave was built for temperatures of up to 165° C and up to 10 bar pressure. The capacity for the manufacture of dispersions was therefore extended by another 3,000 tonnes annually.

In order to guarantee the supplies for new production units, the storage capacity for staple raw materials was extended by another 1,000 tonnes.

It will be exciting to see how Trüb Emulsions Chemie AG continues to develop in the future, too. In times of REACH (registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals), in which innovations are somewhat hindered, Trüb Emulsions Chemie AG is certain that it is all the more important to remain innovative. For this reason the plans for the expansion of the laboratory premises have begun. By May 2009 the new laboratories should be up and running, providing our customers with fast and innovative solutions to their problems.
